Meet Dr. Trafaconda
Dr. Trafaconda is originally from Killingly, CT but has spent the last few years trying to find the right town to call home. After a quick visit to Hayesville, she was already sold.
Growing up, Dr. T went to an agricultural high school where she was able to choose an animal science focus and confirm her love and passion for working with animals.
She then went on to the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!) where she received her bachelor’s in Animal Science. During these four years, she filled her time with working in the livestock barns on campus, participating in countless clubs, managing New England’s infamous UConn Dairy Bar, and spending time at a small animal practice on the weekends.
After undergrad, Dr. T went to Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She was amongst a small number of students that chose to track Mixed Animal Medicine, meaning she would spend her clinical year working with horses, farm animals and small companion animals. She was President of her school’s Student Chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (SCAABP) as well as the veterinary fraternity, Omega Tau Sigma (OTS).
Dr. T loves to stay busy and involved in the community, so she was also an active member in about eight other clubs, worked as an animal caretaker in the barns on campus, and routinely volunteered at the Shelter Medicine TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program every other weekend.
Dr. T has not yet found an animal she doesn’t like to work with, which is why she loves mixed animal medicine so much. She is also super passionate about shelter medicine and rural medicine and hopes her experience in these areas will allow her to provide a broad spectrum of care to all of her future patients.
While Dr. T is used to filling all of her “free time” with cool opportunities, she does enjoy hanging out with friends and spending time with her two dogs, Thor and Freya. Dr. T is so excited to be out of the desert and joining us in Hayesville this summer.
