Dr. Lakota Towe

“After working with Dr. Lawlor prior to veterinary school, I knew coming back to work at Big Bear Veterinary Clinic would provide me with the mentorship and opportunity for growth I have been looking for.”

Meet Dr. Towe

Dr. Lakota Towe is originally from Mineral Bluff, GA. She was raised in the Appalachian Mountains and grew up riding horses, camping, hunting, and fishing in these mountains. Her love for animals brought her into the field at an early age and upon graduating high school, she worked for several years at a mixed animal practice in McCaysville, GA. At this practice, she got to see the need for veterinary care firsthand and she gained valuable experience which solidified her path moving forward.

Dr. Towe completed her undergraduate degree at Dalton State College, while working full time and continuing to build her veterinary knowledge. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, Dr. Towe was accepted into Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she lived on the island of St. Kitts for her first three years of veterinary school. She then went on to complete her clinical year back in the states at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Towe enjoys mixed animal practice, specifically small animal surgery, large animal medicine, and field services/farm calls. During her clinical year of veterinary school, Dr. Towe traveled to many different places to work in equine and bovine specialty clinics, including Alaska and Oregon. She also spent several weeks at an equine reproductive facility, bettering her knowledge in this aspect of the field. This, combined with all of Dr. Towe’s previous experience in small animal surgery and medicine, make her asset to our team at Big Bear Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Towe is very happy to come back home to help the community she loves. She is excited to continue to grow her experience and knowledge with Big Bear Veterinary Clinic and looks forward to providing compassion and care to all of her patients in the area! In her spare time, she still enjoys riding horses, camping, hunting, and fishing, along with spending time with her friends and family.
